Every winter Campesinos Sin Fronteras organizes an event that celebrates our community's farm workers.
The event’s Organizing Committee, which is made up of CSF staff and various community leaders from different agencies, works hard throughout the year to provide a very special day for these hard working farm workers. More than 5,000 farm workers and their families come "Dia del Campesino" and benefit from the free health exams throughout the morning.
Blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, seasonal flu shots, cholesterol, and HIV are among the free exams are provided courtesy of many community health agencies.
The event also provides a delicious breakfast that includes menudo, coffee, bread, and fruit. Attendees also participate in raffles in which prizes include bicycles, gift certificates, kitchen appliances and many more prizes. CSF also takes this time to honor two “Farm Worker of the Year.” One male and one female farm worker are nominated by their own co-workers for their dedication and willingness to help their fellow workers. The winners receive a certificate and check to celebrate their achievement.
The temperature is always in the low 40's t0 30’s, but the excitement, joy, and body heat of all involved makes everyone forget about the cold.
