CSF's Familias Sanas Farmworker Family Prevention initiative seeks to prevent chronic disease to include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and childhood obesity in the Hispanic farmworker population along the US-Mexico border in South Yuma County, Arizona. Specific prevention activities include: Preventing cardiovascular disease and diabetes in farmworker women of childbearing age by involving them in a community-based comprehensive healthy life style program. Preventing or reducing childhood obesity among Hispanic children from the farmworker community by involving high risk and overweight children in an educational healthy lifestyles program. Providing information in heart disease and diabetes prevention and performing health screenings to farmworkers, their families and community members through outreach and health fairs.
Program sessions are held throughout Yuma County. Here are some locations where sessions are taking place:
